Studio Info & FAQs
Whether you’re brand new to dance or joining us for another exciting season, this page is your go-to guide for how things work at the studio. From class attire to performance expectations, we’ve made it easy for you to stay informed and feel confident.
Attendance & Makeups
Regular attendance is important for consistent progress and team cohesion. If your dancer must miss a class, please notify us in advance. Makeup classes may be available but are not guaranteed and must be scheduled in advance.
Dress Code
Each dance style has its own attire requirements to promote safety and discipline. Please refer to the class-specific dress code shared at registration. Hair should be neatly secured away from the face.
Tuition & Fees
Tuition is billed monthly and due on the 1st of each month. Late payments may incur a fee. Additional costs may include recital fees, costumes, and optional studio merchandise.
Studio Communication
We communicate primarily via email and our private parent portal. Urgent updates will also be posted on social media. Be sure to keep your contact information up to date.
FAQs
How do I register?
Registration is available online. If you need help or want to schedule a trial class, just contact us — we’re happy to walk you through it.
What class should I choose for my child?
Class placement is based on both age and ability, determined by our teaching faculty. Dancers are evaluated on technique, focus, and readiness to progress.
Do we need special shoes or clothing?
Yes — proper dance attire is required for each class. A full list is provided after registration or can be found in our studio handbook.
Can I watch class?
We offer scheduled Parent Watch Weeks during the season. In order to maintain focus, regular weekly classes are closed to observers.
What if my child is shy or unsure?
That’s completely normal! Our instructors are experienced at helping new dancers feel comfortable and gain confidence over time.
Is there an annual recital?
We host a year-end recital that celebrates your dancer’s growth. Participation is encouraged but not required. Costume fees and rehearsal schedules will be communicated in advance.

What’s the difference between recreational and competitive dance?
Recreational classes are ideal for dancers who want to learn, have fun, and perform in the recital. Our Performing Company is for dancers seeking additional training and competitive opportunities.
What is Northwood Performing Company?
Northwood Performing Company provides our dancers training to grow in skill, artistry, and confidence — both in the studio and on stage. We participate in regional showcases to national finals.
How do I join Northwood Performing Company?
Auditions are held in the spring. Check our Performing Company page or email us with additional questions about tryouts.
